Normally, you post about other peoples birthdays on their timelines. But in the spirit of being different, Id like to note that today is the shared birthday of two people who have had massive impacts on my life. Happy birthday to Raechel Schultz and Peter Miller! Rae once told me that I inspired her. While Im not stoked about her moving to Wausau, I am glad that shes enjoying life up there. I get bouts of really gnarly depression sometimes and knowing that Ive had a positive impact in her life is one of the things that helps me through. Makes me feel like Ive done something worthwhile with my time here on this planet. Its one thing to have a positive impact on people who suck; thats easy. Make them suck less. But having an impact on someone who is already so creative, so intelligent and so much fun to be around, that takes a certain je ne sais quoi. Pete is the flip side of the coin; any time I start to think Im awesome and my ego starts to swell, I look at Petes life and get a glimpse of what being a truly awesome person really is. I swear, hes good at everything he does and while I know I will never have my shit together the way he does, it does give me something to strive for. I could probably settle for being as good at grilling as he is, but even there Ive got a long ways to go. The best part is, though, that in spite of the fact that hes the epitome of everything a guy should be, hes friendly and humble. Im not even sure the man possesses a temper. A reason to be proud and something to be jealous of, two things every man should have in his life. Keeps you moving. Just wanted to thank you two for keeping me moving.
