North and South Kohala has organized various efforts to assist Puna Residents. A truckload of food and supplies was donated in North Kohala and brought to Puna. I have arranged for a 40 foot load of donated furniture and furnishings (including beds and bedding) to be delivered to Hilo from Honolulu at no charge by Young Brothers. I am arranging to cover the wharf fee, and making arrangements with the help of Senator Ruderman and Senator Schatz for delivery to Puna. The delivery is expected by the end of next week. Chairing the Real Property Tax Task Force, I will also be looking at ways we can assist our farmers and farm workers through this period of devastation.
