Not sure why I started writing this just now in the middle of my life, middle of a five month seminar, middle of the night. But, my soul stirred, so I write. Looking at people, at life, it seems you can always see people with less, people with more, but that is only from our own perspective. I have been blessed to be able to work with people, so I get a chance to look “behind the scenes” and what I see, concerns me, causes me to want to reach out, to help but how? I’ve always been around people, served people; dads store, mom’s restaurant, as a waitress, a massage therapist, kung fu teacher and now as a speaker. Always watching, observing what sometimes seems like a blessed life is actually, well, not. Funny how we all seem to care so much about what others think, how we look to each other, how we come across. When really everyone is thinking that very same thing, wrapped up in their own insecurities. So who is judging then and why does it seem to matter? The people I have met range from extremely poor to billionaires, waiters to celebrities. Trust me when I say, none of us “have it together.” You can relax now. You really can be yourself. The one you think judges you, judges themselves worse. The package you see on the outside is definitely not always the one on the inside. Fear, secrets, shame, self-loath, envy, depression worthlessness are few of the gifts that remain hidden in a prettily wrapped box. I tell you this not out of hopelessness but to awaken you. We all have the same fears the same “not good enough’ the same sleepless nights, laughter, friends, happiness, tears. To think even one of us has it all together is actually rather absurd. What is together anyway? So I say this to you not to depress you, I say this to you so you will share with us. You will open your wings, so you will be vulnerable in front of us, you will dare to shine out your truest self. For when one of us chooses to do this we allow and awaken others to live life without edges. It is in this we live. It is in this we express our blessings. It is in this we honor our creator. It is in this we merge human with spirit. Relax. Set free. Feel what it is like to be you within this world. God bless you, Maria Baird
