(Note: If you are sending me a PM, Im not igginig you; I cant read them from my work locale) Now, on the forthcoming Ward 8 City Council seat election: From Alabama Avenue and Stanton Roads area, and within the home, the young lady Laruby Mays appears well financed and is embedding her name into the psyche of many who dont know just WHO to vote for among the present crop of 22 candidates. Received a robo-call from her last evening, and for a minute or so, she touted her credentials, even noting that she has been serving SE for 15 years. I hear anything from 2 to 6 years on the streets, and for real, I have a pair of Stacy Adams that have danced the floor at the Panorama Room longer than shes been in Southeast. Adversely, have kin and friends from Ward 8 whove spent as much time behind bars. Yet, her professional blue signs and now the robo-call makes it appear she is well financed and, from my perspective, mounting a vigorous campaign. Yet, she also notes support by Mayor Bowser. I was raised not to put all of my eggs, per se, in one basket. Do we really want a representative who is surely to do what is seen as best for us by the MAYOR, and not operate with an independent frame of reference? Perhaps she IS qualified and will do well. But I see others who were born and raised in SE and are as well or even better qualified. Still, they need to get on the stick, because Laruby Mays is already embedding her NAME, at minimum, in the minds of many undecided voters.
