Nothing says summer like the smoky flavor of foods cooked out on the grill. In this week’s #FactorFictionFriday we’re heating up summer grilling tips. Fact or fiction: Ground beef should be cooked to an internal temperature of 160°F in order to kill germs found in raw and undercooked meat. FACT: When grilling, use a meat thermometer to make sure that you cook meat thoroughly. Also, put cooked meat on a clean platter to avoid cross-contamination. Whether youre grilling in the backyard or on a picnic, always keep cold foods cold and hot foods hot. If you think you consumed contaminated meat and have a foodborne illness, call your physician. To find a Springfield Regional Medical Group physician, please call 937-471-4111 or visit community-mercy.org.
