Notice to voters in the Ashley Fire Protection District A letter was recently sent out by the Ashley Fire Dept. asking to approve a tax increase. In this letter they said the tax increase for a $60,000 house would be only $1.31 per one thousand dollars of assessed value. This would amount to $26.20 for a house of this value. What they neglected to tell you that the amount of tax now is almost $75.00. Add this to the increase and you would be paying approximately $100.00 per year on a $60,000 house. This wouldnt be bad except next year and every year thereafter taxes could be raised by as much as 5% each year. This could result in a large tax increase to the taxpayers. Please vote no the tax increase.
