Nov. 10: today Im thankful for my mother and the other women in my life who taught me what used to be called the womanly arts, and are now called crafts or hobbies. I have been crocheting, knitting, embroidering, sewing and quilting since childhood (often to the detriment of the good order of my home); and cant imagine not being able to relax and knit a shawl, quilt a baby quilt, crochet a doily or afghan, whip up a pair of pillowcases, or embroider a guest towel or sampler. From time to time, some of it turns out kinda pretty, too!
