November 1 at 9pm the car Im trying to sell, my PT Cruiser was hit by a drunk driver who fled the scene. With the help of another motorist I was able to find him and coerce his information out of him. He was indeed intoxicated. While waiting for the police to arive, the man begged for mercy, pleaded that I not ruin his life by detaining him for the police. As angry as I was that he was driving while intoxicated, the cord, please dont ruin my life resonated with me on a deep personal level. In anger I responded with pain and contempt, Tough. My life has been ruined continually by those Ive trusted, worked for, cared about and was raised by. Youre nothing special. Youre a drunk driver that attempted to flee. However, despite my anger, my own pain, and the crap Ive HAD to endure, not to mention the shit Im currently dealing with (employment, crushed disc, neuropathy, torn ankle, heal bone spur, AIDS, cancer and now these episodes of passing out [all of which are due to either my contact with those full of greed, malice, selfishness, or callousness,]) I couldnt help but feel pity, for what I thought was, for him. I think now I felt pity for myself. I so want those who have sought to harm, hurt, take advantage, abandon or discredit me to give me the compassion that he was begging. I so want to have a future; not one marred with the crap hand that that is killing me. I did not physically detain him. Nor did I ask my friend and boyfriend who were with me at the time to detain him. I let him make the decision to leave on foot. He was not going to drive his car any further that night. I kinda knew him hitting the car was going to turn out for the best for me anyway. The adjuster is getting me $1,600.00 from the damage. Damage to the rear bumper and tail light. I can easily replace the tail light (I did so on the other side for $75 at Pep Boys about 9 months ago.) After replacing the tail light, thats still like $1,500.00. Sell the car for another $1,500.00 Ill be able to completely fix the Altima (needs tune-up, struts, rotors and brakes) and then be able to start rebuilding that savings that was completely depleted with the move, replacing my dead computer, and the purchase of the Altima. Need to rebuild that savings if Im ever to make it to Portland, Oregon. I dont know why, but it calls to me.
