Novembers nearly upon us, and like a Thanksgiving turkey, its stuffed with goodness at the Virginia Discovery Museum. The first week alone features three special programs! Charlottesville and Albemarle County schools are out of session Monday, Nov. 4, and Tuesday, Nov. 5, for teacher workdays, but VDM is offering two drop-off programs for ages 4 to 8 to help keep your children engaged during the time away from the classroom. On Monday, well let our imaginations run wild through art with Creative Minds, and on Tuesday well test our skills at some classic games with Games Galore. Both programs run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., but a half-day option from 9 a.m. to noon is available both days. Each full-day program costs $60 per child for members and $70 per child for nonmembers, while the half-day programs cost $30 and $35 each, respectively. To participate in either drop-off, children must be registered by Friday, Nov. 1. To learn more, email [email protected]. To register, call (434) 977-1025 or stop by the museum in person. On Saturday, Nov. 9, the museum will welcome Jefferson-Madison Regional librarians Karen and Jacqui and Booksy the puppet for Meet the Librarian, part of our Meet Me on Main Street series. The program is free with admission, and participants will listen to a story and then act it out in a creative drama!
