According to Fox News, researcher Nitesh Dhanjani discovered the vulnerability which could have major consequences in hospitals and other public venues. Dhanjani explained about the grave consequences of such a security bug in basic amenities like the light bulb and said that a remote botnet can cause a perpetual blackout of millions of consumer lightbulbs. The Philips Hue lightbulbs have LED bulbs that can be tuned to any of 16 million colors controlled via an app on an owner’s iPhone or Android-powered smartphone. Dhanjani said that if the victim manually switches the bulbs off and on, the lights will ?icker on for less than half a second and then go off again until the victim recognized and terminates the script adding that the efforts to bring to notice this problem to Philips has been unfruitful, the report added. #AK :)
