Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit - Romans 15:13 Many are searching for joy and peace and have never considered that it is found in faith. "Chara" is 1 of 7 Greek words translated as joy and is gladness derived from grace. The phrase God of hope (Greek: Elpis - expectation of what is sure) means that when we rest our desires in God, we are of assured of what we hope As we believe we receive joy and peace from God in fullness. The word fill (Greek: Plero) means to make full or bring to its goal. When our faith is unerringly rooted in God, He completes that faith by bringing His joy and peace (Greek: Eirene - wholeness) into it. With joy and peace our faith becomes solid which is His goal. With this faith we abound (Greek: Perisseuo - meaning over, above and around). How could we not have joy and peace when our solid faith has totally overtaken us in such a powerful fashion. Yet none of this comes from us. It is the power of the Holy Spirit penetrating our thoughts and desires and birthing joy and peace inside us. What is given can be taken, but what is birthed inside you will remain. A solid faith is an empowered faith. It is full of a peace and joy that does not come and go, but instead grows within us. Is your faith abounding in joy and peace? If not let the God of Hope fill you with the power of His Holy Spirit and birth it within you.
