Now people..........dont jump on me please :) I just get irritated when I hear the pronunciation of certain words and some that come to mind immediately are: Nike - which most people pronounce as Nike as in like. However, the word is Greek and means victory and should be pronounced Ni-key. Although I see from Google that the British insist on Nike. Maybe we should say Englan, Scotlan, and Wale !!!!! Another irritation is Toyota - mostly pronounced Tee -ota (especially on one of the local radio stations, which also says AFF AMM, instead of Eff Emm and Musac!!!! ) Sorry now, but everyone has their pet peeves, and this is one of mine.
