Now that Im back to the cradle of relative civilization that is Rangoon, it is time to tell the hair-raising story about a local village girl. It happened a few days ago as I was returning from dinner. It was dark (no streetlights as usual) and she appeared from possibly an abandoned building nearby. She said, Hello and I replied likewise, thinking it was another tourist. I walked past her and realized she was following me very close. I turned back and asked, What do you want?. As it was dark, I could barely outline her look and her shoulder-length hair was half-covering her face. You know, Juon-like. She replied, You tell me. It was clear from her voice and body gestures that she was asking for ... ahem ahem ... favors. Possibly in exchange for money. Or whatever. The story I made up to tell all of you in Facebook is that I confronted her, told her to back off, sister! and warned her about my level 5 skill in wushu. The real story is that I ran away like a girl whilst constantly looking back to make sure she wasnt flying toward me or anything. Now if you could excuse me, I need to go wrestle a bear and then smack a soda can to my forehead. Tata! tl;dr Myanmar is not safe for single male travelers.
