Now that all the horror films are in for 2013 here are my Top 10 favorite horror films of 2013. 1. The Conjuring...Amazing horror movie but what makes this #1 is how much i felt for the characters. This is a really well written movie and actually moved me to tears towards the end. Horror has never done that to me before. 2. Carrie....Although I dont count Carrie as a horror film like most do this is taking my #2 spot because of how relatable Carrie was in this film and how it showed the realism of bullying both from school and home and what effects that has on someone. This movie by the end had me caring so much about Carrie that I was devastated by the end (in a good way though). 3. Insidious Chapter 2...Although not as scary as its predecessor this is an amazing and original film that pays respects to popular horror films of the past. Not since 80s horror movies has a horror sequel been so good. Another horror film where you care about the characters which I believe is the most important thing to have in any film but especially in horror. 4. Evil Dead.....This film is like a heavy metal song that starts of crazy and doesnt let up until the end. The directing is top notch and some of the best directing ive seen in a horror film. It managed to be a remake that is completely different that the original yet pays alot of respect to Evil Dead and especially Evil Dead 2. 5. Curse of Chucky....Ive never been a MASSIVE chucky fan because he scared me so bad as a kid and so ive had this personal grudge against the doll. Still this is one amazing, entertaining, and fun fanboy straight to dvd films that should of went to theaters. If you havent seen this film go out and see it because its NOT a remake and will make you so happy if youre a fan. 6. Youre Next....Although I didnt really like the character minus the lead girl, I thought the acting was bad minus the lead girl, and the killers lose their scariness half way into the film. I gotta say this is still one of the most fun experiences ive had watching a Slasher film in YEARS!!! This movie turns the slasher genre on its head and does something new. 7. Mama....To me this film feels like a dark horror fairy tale. Its really creepy and although mama looks a little like a Scooby doo villain I really found the atmosphere of this movie eerie. Kids crawling on the ground too creeped me out. Jessica Chastain is also one of my favorite actresses and her character arc was great. 8. World War Z....A film I hated as soon as I saw the trailers and told myself I wasnt going to see because of how awful it looked. I think I like many people were extremely surprised with how entertaining this action zombie film was. I really enjoyed it and Brad Pitt was awesome in it! 9. Warm Bodies...Another film I had set in my mind was going to be awful. I remember shaking my head going OMG its zombie twilight but this is not. Its more like Edward Scissorhands but with Zombies and these really awesome scary things called Bonies. This is most def. one of my favorite films of the year and def. one of the most surprising. Its hilarious, heart warming, and yes at times scary. HIGHLY Recommended! 10. V/H/S 2....This film had some amazing segments that will stick with you after watching the movie. From a guy who gets a robotic eye and can see ghosts, to a found footage zombie mini film, and more... this is MUCHHH better than the first one that I really didnt like. I would recommend this film!
