Now this isnt meant to be one of those #inspirational status but today got me thinking. Entering year 12 at the age of 16 everyone tells you that this is the most important year of your life, so I took it as it was. Worked hard early on to get good grades so that I could be accepted into the Airforce, luckily enough I did. However one afternoon after school I decided to meet some mates at subway, on the way home I failed to give way in a 100km/h zone and was subsequently hit in the drivers door by a passing car. Luckily enough neither me or my younger sister died (obviously) however I did fracture my skull therefore ending my dreams of beginning flight training with the RAAF. Spiralled into some form of depression I suppose and blew year 12 completely. Post school I got an apprenticeship, it sucked but I carried on. Got accepted into Uni for mineral geoscience but I was too interested in going to town to be bothered so I continued on working. End of last year I applied for the Master Builders College with the faint hope of becoming a builder, effectively losing my job due to my new time constraints. Now 10 months later, I sit here at 22 doing well in class, with a placement with a commercial building company and having started my own small but reasonably successful business with a head full of knowledge. Now the point Im really trying to make is, life throws up hurdles constantly and if you want to anyone can adapt and handle anything. In the scheme of things, it all sounds pretty pointless to place your entire life worth into one year when there is no set rules to living it.
