Numbers 12:1 Then Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Cushite woman whom he had married (for he had married a Cushite woman); interesting chapter... were Miriam and Aaron speaking against Moses for something else, or just the fact that he married a black woman? Cushites would be south of Egypt, kind of between them and Ethiopia... other passages suggest she was black, or dark skinned. So, did God inflict Miriam with leprosy because of her disrespect to her brother, or because of a racial thing? Some of the dynamics of relationships in the Bible are not fully explained, one has to understand the setting and situation. Not sure why I went to this chapter, but when I saw this it kind of surprised me. I think in part because Moses had several wives it seems... so... was Miriam giving him grief because he disrespected his Midianite wife? or??? When I hit a passage like this... I stop, back up a chapter or two, and read it again... then Ill search on key words for clues... right now I can tell you that Ill be searching on Aaron, Miriam, leprosy, Cushite and other words that might be there in Chapter 11... Thats how we figure these things out... examine the Bible, look at the context... WRESTLE with it... the meaning is in there... but dont jump to conclusions... great passage for Martin Luther King Jrs remembrance... another passage might be the one talking about Simon, the black man who carried the cross for Jesus, or the Ethiopian eunuch in Acts, or the woman in the Song of Solomon (could be the queen of sheba...)... so... reading 11, 12 and 13, then examining the character of Aaron, and Miriam will possibly make this passage more clear... keeping in mind one other thing... the first five books of Moses, the Torah, has an equidistant spelling of Torah forward and backward every 50 characters in the Hebrew... its Gods Watermark... so this content is supposed to be in here... if any part of scripture is divinely inspired the Torah most certainly can be explained as such considering the watermark.
