Nurses use to do the massages but it became so specialized that massage therapists were born. Florida was the first to license massage therapists in 1948 to take over that task. All that is gone. When was the last time you were in the hospital following surgery and a massage therapist pressed on 3 muscles and the pain went away?? We are moving backwards in pain management, not forward. We cannot afford to be ok with this.
