Nwabueze Chiman Chimezie Wrote: VALUE... He took shots of himself with his Samsung galaxy S5, designers shirts and trousers, designers shoes and even an exotic designers cologne (though that was not evident from the pics). He leaned against the Toyota Venza which sparkled in the sun-kissed afternoon, giving off its lovely black glow as a thank you to the afternoon. In a matter of minutes it was on all his social media accounts: Facebook, twitter, instagram, BBM, whatsapp, 2go etc with the tag #IamSoMade. He didnt mention that it was all gotten with dads money. Neither did he mention that the car was mums. He needed to show his friends that he too was in the game. He too could tap into dads wealth and take a chunk of youthful gaiety and exuberance for himself. It wouldnt hurt. No? What emptiness! How fulfilment and achievements are often sought in the wrong places: wealth, fame and the likes. Often accompanied with orgiastic conviviality. When a man attaches his self-worth to materialism, then deep down he is shallow. The rich is no richer than the poor if he has no value in his person. He only drowns in the illusion of self importance. Man should give value to things and not the other way round. But not everyone reckons that. Or rather, it simply is hard for many to understand that-as simple as it sounds. Why do people scramble for autographs? Is it not just a persons signature? NO!!! it is THE persons signature. Why are artifacts and belongings of heroes and the great achievers auctioned in millions of high currencies? Dont other people have such things? They do. Problem is, they are OTHER people. Not THE people. When a man does not pay attention to himself so much as to build himself to the capacity he wishes to attain, but rather focuses on things like money and connections and the likes to get him there, he sets himself up for an inevitable disappointment. For after those things are obtained, he soon realises that he is never better off than where he was. Remember the proverbial pig with a gold ring on his snout? He still stinks! I remember watching a documentary on how Warren Buffet was called in to head the Salomon brothers corporation on the verge of disaster due to financial misappropriations. Prior to that incident it was the biggest corporation of its sorts. So why was Warren chosen for such arduous assignment? Integrity!!! (Sorry to disappoint you if you thought it was for his wealth) He was a man who people could hold on to his words even in the midst of the mistrust the company had garnered. And I wondered, What a man? Men should learn to build themselves primarily. When you build your self value, you will naturally attract value from others. Build from bottom to top Build yourself. People will seek you for who you are and for what you bring to the table. And what do you bring to the table? VALUE!!! Thank you. THE CHIMAN *winks*
