OCHENDO LEGACY HOUSING PROJECTS Under the visionary leadership of Chief (Dr) T. A. Orji (Ochendo) unrestricted efforts have been made to massively lift Abia State from under developed state to a quick, reliable and steady developing state through building and reconstruction efforts of the Ochendo administration in establishing affordable, available, and durable housing in the State. In sustaining these efforts, the Government under the Ochendos re-engineering, encouraged the private sector participation in establishing housing estates by creating wider opportunities for the private developers through facilitation in land acquisition and issuance of certificate of occupancies (C of Os) with enabling environment. This corporate partnership has trigged the following: 1. Improved and affordable houses 2. Decongestion of the demographic clusters 3. Raise the aesthetic value in urban areas 4. Raise the living standard and life expectancy of the people through the provision of adequate, effective and efficient transport network and necessary infrastructure, such as electricity, water, health and educational facilities that sustains urban and estate development. There has been a tremendous establishment of housing estate by the administration to compliment the high level of development witnessed in the two major urban cities of Umuahia and Aba, resulting in the establishing of the following housing estate: 1. Ochendo Housing estate Isieke in Umuahia North LGA 2. Ugurube Layout Umuahia North LGA 3. Amauba Housing Estate Umuahia, Umuahia South LGA 4. New GRA Aba in Aba North LGA 5. Industrial Layout Aba, Aba North LGA 6. Legislative Housing Layout Umuahia North LGA 7. Amaokwe (Adelebu) Housing Estate Umuahia North LGA 8. Ochendo Unity Garden Housing estate Aba Osisioma LGA 9. Old Timber Housing Estate Umuahia North LGA 10. Ngwu Uzuakoli/Ubani Housing Estate Bende/Umuahia North LGA 11. Agbama Housing estate Umuahia South LGA 12.
