OCT 26TH. Today we especially remember...Zoe Gs JIMMY who passed away in 2012. In memory of Jimmy, who found me in 2010 having been adopted by my (then) young cat Benji. He was hanging around the garden for ages but had a collar so thought he was just trying his luck. After months of coaxing i managed to get him to come near me and to take the number from his tag. I tried to repatriate him with his owner twice (hed been missing a year and a half) but he kept returning. I wondered where all the food was going then realised when I saw Benji holding the microchipped flap open for him with his leg! Hed survived a very cold winter by breaking in through a gap in my shed door. Over time, I gained his trust (if anyone else was around he would usually be nowhere to be seen) and he would eventually let me rub his belly, give him kisses on the head and pick him up (though not often). He remained a very independent and mainly outdoor cat, though sometimes would sleep on my bed with the other cats. Sadly, having collapsed with kidney failure we stayed with him while he went to rainbow bridge :-(. So, Jimmy, I hope that you understand about the decision we made, and I truly hope that you enjoyed and felt safe during your short time with us. I look for you everyday and I miss you. I tried not to get attached to you at the beginning, your owner was even going to take you to the cat sanctuary when you rejected them again, but it was your reciprocal love with Benji that changed my mind initially (always cuddled up together), and before long I had fallen for you too. I feel so lucky that Benji and I had you in our lives. I will never forget the time you first came to sit with me on the sofa (one of 3 times?) and I loved hearing your call in the garden as you called Benji out for adventures. I loved you very much and it was terribly hard to let you go, the vet said it was the right thing. Benji misses you, he still looks for you everywhere. Im wondering who he is going to bring to me next;-) Enjoy rainbow bridge my friend, one day we will meet again there. For now, keep an eye on Benji from up there as you know he can get into scrapes ;-) Love you xx RIP Jimmy x
