ODDBALL UNITED ROUND 11 PRE MATCH REVIEW Oddball United come up against Team Try for the second time this season, defeating them at the start of the season with a far from convincing 4-1 scoreline. Theyll be looking to overcome some mid season issues tonight to keep the unbeaten run this season going into double figures. Oddball did enough last week to see off the Red Sneddons with a 7-3 win. Team Try, who are currently sitting a lowly 8th with 2 wins and a draw from 10 starts, couldnt score last week as they drew 0-0 with the Tiger Prawns in a surprise result. The Tiger Prawns are known for high goal scoring and are sitting 5th on the table, this proving that it will not be easy for Oddball to crack the Team Try defence tonight. Oddballs squad worries are not improving, Al Jordan is expected to miss up to another month of Football with Oddball pinning all hopes on him making a return for finals. Simon Jacobson has been suspended by the leadership group for one week after being caught having discussions with Oddballs Sister club, FC Bocchino, about a loan deal over the spring. It looks like he should be in the clear to return to the squad next week, but he leaves a gaping hole in defence to cover. With last weeks star recruit Happy being unavailable due to being on International Duty, Oddball will be sporting yet another new look team. Fox will line up behind the striker, and his current form improvement that coincides with the injury of Al Jordan is no coincidence. Hes stated during the week that he knew he had to stand up to cover the attacking prowess that Jordan brought to the team, and so far he has delivered. Hell be looking to continue the form this week. Madejski will be asked to line up behind the forwards and control the forward movements from the defensive mid role. Madejski rejuvenated his career early this year with a surprise move up front but has struggled to show the same sort of form when moved back into a more defensive role like he is used too over the past few seasons. Hell be looking to change that run of events tonight as hes forced to his less preferred position to cover the voids that have arisen due to injury. Every other player on the pitch tonight will be a new recruit or will be playing out of their usual positions. Andy Paolacci has been in good form with FC Bocchino where he plays as an attacking midfielder, which has brought about the first big move by the Oddball manager for tonights clash. Being the star keeper of the league, it would seem impossible to take him out of his position, but hes been moved onto the field to play as a defensive midfielder for tonights clash. Andy has big boots to fill for tonights clash and hell be looking to pass yet another test on his skill with flying colours. To join Andy down back will be a new signing who came after the closure of the transfer window, allowed only due to being a free transfer. A fellow FC Bocchino player, Elio Scarton will be making his debut for the club. The middle aged recruit has overcome recent injuries to help carry Bocchino to the minor premiership last night, this was enough to convince Oddball to make a move and the deal was penned late last night. Scarton passed his medical this afternoon and will line up down back next to his good friend Paolacci, the two are expected to gel early as they have had plenty of game time together in the past. Josh Schmidt had an impressive debut last week up front and the star striker will be looking to back up his first appearance with another one tonight. Schmidt only penned a loan deal with Oddball as cover for Al Jordan, but if his form from last week continues for the next few weeks he could be looking at a big long term contract offer from the top of the table club. Schmidt has spoken during the week about the buzz he gets from playing for such a big club and he hinted that if the right offer comes he would have to turn his back on his previous club. Some have referred to the next man as the Australian Peter Cech, others have referred to him as the Victorian Mark Schwarzer, all we know is hes called Doodles. Doodles Attwood signed a loan deal with Oddball two seasons ago to find more game time but Paolaccis sudden rise in form saw the elite Keeper spend the next two seasons on the subs bench. He looked to have finally found a spot in the team on a few occasions last season but last minute niggles saw him ruled out, but tonight his dream comes true, he will finally get his first cap for Oddball United. Doodles had an elite season with Scoregasm FC three seasons ago, but as Scoregasm got demoted they could not afford his wages anymore, enter Oddball United. The recruitment manager at Oddball has had eyes on Doodles for many a season, and after tedious discussions with his manager, a deal was finally sealed for a 2 season loan stint with Oddball. Scoregasm were looking to be promoted and get their star player back, but it wasnt to be and Oddball managed to get a third year loan for the player, who up to this stage hasnt been able to make a debut for the club. His hard work in the gym and impressive form on the training pitch finally pays off tonight as he kicks Andy Paolacci out of his preferred position and pulls on the gloves himself. It is expected there will be a sellout crowd to see the debut and Oddball has confirmed there will be player autographs after the game as this superstar has such a big following. The clash will take place at 9.40pm at Box Hill High Futsal Stadium, there are minimal standing room tickets left via Ticketek but these are sure to be gone fast.
