OK, here goes. Little known facts about myself: 1. I grew up in a family that fostered children…..28 of them, 27 of whom were newborn babies! I was learning how to bathe a baby when I was only in third grade. My husband claims I have a black belt in baby care. 2. I graduated number #1 in my high school class of 750 seniors at Thornwood high school in South Holland, IL. I tied for that top rank with 4 other students, two of whom were Ann Schuessler and Bruce Hausknecht. That was a neat class to be in! Lots of smart, long lasting friends. 3. I attended Northwestern College in Orange City, IA, which was 600 miles away from home in South Holland. While I loved my professors, if I had to do it all over again I think I’d choose to go to college closer to home. I envied all my Iowa friends who went home for Sunday dinner. 4. I have an elementary teaching degree and taught second grade in the public school for 7 years. 5. As I grew up, I always wanted to marry and have a dozen children. Teaching for a few years cured me of that dream! Randy and I have two children, a boy and a girl. Perfect. 6. I am a seamstress. I made my own wedding dress. I did alterations for a second hand bridal/evening dress shop in Chesterton for one year. My most daunting task while working there was to cut a cathedral length train off a designer wedding gown and use the fabric and lace to make a size 10 dress into a size 14 dress! Fit like a glove and the bride-to-be burst into tears of joy when I zipped it up in back. 7. I love to cook! About 20 years ago I entered a recipe contest sponsored by Kraft. It was a contest for a dessert recipe using cooked brown rice. I won the top prize for my Peach Crisp recipe. The prize was a basket filled with all kinds of packaged Kraft food items and bottles of gourmet spices. I was in cooking heaven for months! 8. I don’t do windows. No, really! Randy washes our windows, always has, for the 33 years we’ve been married. He’s a saint and I’m keeping him for life!
