OK, here is a classic sports story. Dean Turner was drafted by the NY Rangers in 1978. After playing only 35 NHL games, he left hockey and founded an investment company. The company took money from many Detroit-area investors, including Marilyn Turner, a local TV personality and yep--you guessed it--his mother. His mother sued him for fraud to recover the $945,000 she invested with his firm. in all, he and his partner swindled investors out of $10 million. Here is the kicker--their prospectus said the promissory notes were not available to ordinary customers and were reserved for favored and preferred investors, family and friends. greatesthockeylegends/2012/01/dean-turner-bad-impressions.html
