OPEN LETTER TO PDP, APC, ELECTORATES By Ejiranti Akinlolu Paul. The carcass of the Boko Haram victims demand for revenge, the tears and agony of the displaced Nigerians cries for vengeance, the silence of the bereaved clamour for change, the restless spirit of those massacred speaks loud everyday. I will vote for the candidate who will repay the bloods, tears and unstopable cries of these poor Nigerians. Their childrens were kidnapped and impregnated, their houses, shops and valuables were destroyed and the government kept on saying we know the people. When will this faces appear? Should we keep on waiting when the fire is already on the housetop? Recently, myself and a friend had an inter-personal conversation with an Hausa guy, he was so furious in his responses that I can read violent in his eyes when I said what will happen if Buhari doesnt emerge? Though, he gave no answer, but his non-verbal cues send an anger aroma to my confused heart. Also, chats with online Igbo friends create more confusion to my weary soul, as they pitch their tent in the stained, almost collapsed santuary of Mr Phd. Though, constitutionally, sovereignty belongs to the people, and democracy is the government initiated by the citizenry. However, the trend of happenings around depict or suggest a measure of doubt over the credibility of this forthcoming elections. I was in bank on Thursday when the bank, skye bank precisely, demanded for thumbprint of everyone saying it is a directive from the Central Bank of Nigeria(CBN) to get a second account number. On the same day, my institution, based in Ondo state(name withheld) instructed all students to go for biometric registration which included another thumprinting without presenting any reason. All these thumprints send a signal of manipulation to all students and residents in my community but all kept mute, probably scared of the change they profess daily. Sovereignty belongs to the people, there is just a thin line of victory between the two prinicipalities contending for the number one citizen of this giant but almost paralised nation. Electorates of the past are different from the electorates of this era because we truely know who really deserves the baton of leadership, Mr president sir, there has been a dynamic shift and aggressive redisposition in your campaign strageties as your voices now sound violent, abusive and attacking without analytically highlighting your reasonable, convincing and persuasive landmarks for the past six years. Mr president sir, nobody cares about the phone number of your opponent, neither can I be brainwashed by any Phd, everyone cares about someone who truely can provide security for their lives and properties which is the prinicipal essence of a democratic government which is visibly clear that this present administration has failed woefully. Im a south westerner, the zone where you got high level of votes in 2011 because we consider you had no shoes strategy. However, counting from the first to the tenth citizens of this country, no south westerner is appointed to most of the sensitive national offices. Only God knows if the incumbent president himself will not defect before February 14, 2014 as the pond is becoming more dry for his fish to dwell, Mr president who speaks gently and softly when the terrorists perpetrate their evil acts now stand and speak violently before the impoverished Nigerians campaigning for re-election. My fears about APC are exclusively religous and tribal in nature. I pray Buhari will swallow his verdicts about Sharia Law enforcement in the nation, I pray the Northerners will not finally dominate nigerian system as they always wish to do, I pray Buhari will not join in promoting violence if not emerged! However, my fears are simple but salient, can a General and a pastor really stop the incessant killings from the terrorist group(Boko Haram)? If they do, is there no possibility that the Niger Delta militants will arise again? What really are the chances this change can fetch us as a nation? If PDP loss, there are tendencies for violence, if Buhari loss, there are tendencies for violences, electorates need to pray and prepare to stnd by their voice, their vote and shun post-election violence. Parties and politicians must look away from ambition and set attention on the persisting challenges so that Nigerian can become the giant it was six years ago. Signed. Ejiranti Akinloluwa Paul
