OPINION: The Comedy According to The Gospel of Kwara PDP MANY a Kwaran received with disbelief, and shock, the exclusion of the State at the Federal Executive Council, FEC. This is as a result of the recent nomination of ministers by the President, Goodluck Jonathan, with no representation from the State. Although the last time it happened, that Kwara experienced this anomaly, is really far-fetched; the reason behind the exclusion is what irks most. Reports have let us know that there have been several deviltry, shenanigans, ego- grabbing, under-cutting activities going on within the upper body of the Kwara State Chapter of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, the PDP. This has led many to conclude that The Presidency did not want to ruffle more feathers, nor further polarize an already divided house, hence its move to completely exclude the State in the nomination. It was with utter chagrin I received the news. Only a few misguided elements will argue with you that Kwara State has benefited humongously from having significant presence at the Federal level in the last few years. This piece has no political affiliations, before some disgruntled persons term it so; it is just a reverberation of some thinking. Come to think of it, just because some people want to remain perpetually selfish and impish, they have allowed the State to miss out, at least for now. Kwara Peoples’ Democratic Party in Pictures More succinctly, Kwara PDP has failed Kwarans. The turnout of events has proved, beyond reasonable doubt that the guys currently running the show in the party are merely ‘Sell Swords’. If a State that was one of the very first created States in Nigeria presently has nobody on FEC, then Kwara PDP has nothing to offer. The President’s snub is enough to justify the position of Kwara in the mind of the powers that be. Why would Kwara PDP prefer not to bury hatchets, and at least present one person to represent the interest of Kwara? Why will the likes of Professor Abdulwahab Oba, Gbemi Saraki, Bola Shagaya, Mohammed Dele Belgore, and others not mentioned for want of space, not pull together, at least for once; just so that there will be credible and viable opposition party in the State? If they are so committed to cut the hegemony of Bukola Saraki in the State, why is their house divided against itself? Does this not aptly show to us that most of the people in Kwara PDP, if not all, are just time bombs, waiting for the opportunities to explode? Are they not just bunch of guys looking for the slightest opportunity for power to display shambolic abuse of it, if at the State Party level, there is so much malignment of focus and direction? These are questions begging for answers. They must answer, if they want the good people of Kwara State to take them serious at all. Trying not to deflect needed answers to these questions by raising issues over the amount of money spent by the present administration on the four recently remodeled General Hospitals is, at best, the last survival efforts of a sinking man. This is a question of ‘physician, heal thyself’, and that is if they are not a bunch of charlatans, to say the least. Kwara PDP has no tenable explanation for this. It is the result of internal acrimony presently ongoing within its camp. When an army is replete with officers that break ranks, and not close ranks, this is what you get. Well, I think Kwarans should be grateful for this really, because it paints accurately the picture of what to expect from the party in 2015 General Elections. Maybe the internal infringements and infractions will be so much that the party may not even present a single credible candidate for any elective office. If the people in Kwara PDP like let them continue their comedy of behaviours until 2015, then they should not be surprised at the outcome. Kwarans cannot just trust their future in the hands of a party that cannot reach a consensus, or people that cannot reach a compromise on issues as simple as this. When it matters most, they are likely to disappoint bitterly. Kwara PDP is a child that has made its parents to dance naked in broad day light, hence he, too, should not, and will not be spared.
