OPINIONS PLEASE: As you all may know i just recently started to post about a dog in the shelter and he has been aggressive and wanted to find him a home before he gets put down if he cant turn around and start accepting people and other dogs. Because of this post I received an ugly message from one of Tangipahoa Parish Animal Shelter employees. Her name is Summer Allen and started accusing me of posting false info about her facility. Now when i asked three different employees If this dog does not turn around and start accepting other humans and dogs within his 10 day holding. will he be put down? the same answer i got from all three employees was yes unfortunately if we cant get him to where we can put him up for adoption he will be put down So as you all know i started posting for help so we can get him adopted. In return i get this nasty letter from an employee accusing me of false information which if it was false info she should not be approaching me but she should approach her co-workers. I am not going to just pull something out of my butt and put it on display. i am not the knowledgeable one on this issue that is why i asked the employees there because they are the ones who should be informing me of the correct procedure. So I print off our conversation and bring it down to the shelter so the director can read it and we could discuss the issues. He was not there when i went but he called me back today and i just recently spoke to him. The first thing he says to me is i am proud that my employees take pride in their jobs and defend their work place but i will have to discuss with them about the use of social media SERIOUSLY?????? It doesnt matter if it is social media, on the premises, and or outside of someones work hours. You are an example of your company and should HAVE NO RIGHT to speak to a potential customer the way she did. So to me this means that this director condones this form of behavior just not on a social site. The director also told me that my post is exactly true besides for the ten days that i specified. There is no time limit on how long this dog has. It can have 4 days or it may have 100 days. It is up to an individual there that i guess gets to play god when it comes to when to take an animals life. So Summer Allen I am so sorry i used the time frame of ten days. And not to mention people the whole time we talked I never received an apology for what this worker of theirs wrote to me. Even after i told him she had no right to speak to me the way she did he then asked well are you sure it was her? So i was nice and said thank you for your time and speaking to me and ended it at that. So the question is should I just dropped this and forgive people in their ignorance or go a step higher than the director Conversation started Friday10/18, 8:27pmSummer Allen I am the officer that initially worked the call and I dont appreciate you accusing us of giving the chihuahua (from your work/Walmart Dist) 10 days to straighten up. We dont kill them for nothing. Theyre either a threat, danger, or suffering. I tried reaching you a few times about the dog bc you said youd find it a home. Now we catch it, and hold it in kennel b for you or someone you know wants it and to observe its behavior and this is how you portray us? At least spread the truth, not your assumption. The 10 days is to make sure it doesnt have rabies (which you dont survive once signs occur) so its to make sure the victim doesnt die!! And hes in there to relax and get used to the shelter and eventually be socialized when we feel hes not a danger to animals or people. So dont say whats not true. I called and spoke to someone on the phone and talked to them before i came down there. unfortunately I did not write down their name but that is what i was told. So if this is not correct you guys need to educate those that answer questions over the phone. second i was still interested in taking him and finding him a home but i dont have money to buy a dog to find him a home cause i personally would not charge anybody. Not all employees have been there a year like me. Also they are not only new but only a couple months new if that...But thats their mistake, it doesnt make it true. You should call and ask for our director to get the best info because its his hard work that got us where we are today. Also, if the money was an issue (which we arent rich and magic so we cant run a shelter and provide medications, vaccines, cleaning supplies, truck issues fixed, etc on no money) Ill pay for the adoption myself and give you the dog. All Im saying is you took an inch if info and ran with it. I did all I could to get the dog so u could contact you and give him an immediate home. And honestly, in my opinion only, the Bible states of a place in heaven for ALL living things, and Id rather any animal go to heaven than be starving, end up in the care of someone who may abuse, neglect, or be irresponsible with their pet, or anything else bad happening...which theirs abuse people dont dream of a human being doing. 10/18, 8:57pmJeremy LeFebvre ok i will bring our conversation to your director and my post and ask him what the truth is so we can squash this argument. I will not lie to people about what really will happen so if yall are a no kill shelter than great but i want to hear it from someone higher up so we can all do whats right for this dog and not only him but every animal out there. We are in fact a kill shelter for the reasons I stated earlier. But talk to him and you can go from there.
