These people had been forced into exile by Bashar al-Assad’s regime, which sought to destroy their identity, their sense of belonging, and the cause for which the Syrian people are fighting. Embarking on a journey back home to Syria, these people are evading ambushes along the way and patiently braving the elements as they climb upward over the mountaintop in the hope of returning to their homeland after a prolonged absence.
