OTIS REDDING 2 – In October of 1962, Jenkins and the group were booked by Atlantic Records to record some music at Stax Records studios in Memphis. Redding, who drove the group to Memphis, was allowed to perform two songs at the end of the session. The result was “These Arms of Mine” his first hit selling more than 800.000 copies. The album “Pain In My Heart” became the first of a series of soul ballads by Redding. After years of ambition and drive, his sacrifices had paid off. But the success of his early years was mostly limited to the black population of the south, a barier but he would struggle to cross over in the following years.
