Oakley Rescues a What: On Saturday afternoon, we were home with the inside front door open. Oakley likes to lay by the door and watch the goings on. I was on the recliner and noticed him sit up and look down the street with some attention. I looked too and saw a neighbor lady with two small children trying to coach the dog who had gotten loose back to them. I called Terry to come and we watched for a bit longer, the poor lady was frantic. We decided to take Oakley outside, thinking that the dog would come to him before any people. We kept Oakley on his leash so that we could catch the other dog when he came close. We called to the other dog who came near, but not close enough. The dog was playing a game of “catch me if you can”, just staying out of reach. We decided to urge the dog using Oakley’s attention through the gate to the fenced in back yard where at least she couldn’t get away, we would have control. We did so, closing the gate and attracting the pup with treats. We finally were able to grip her collar and turn her over to the thankful lady. We found that the pup was a yellow lab / beagle mix named Stella. She had the body of a lab with face of a beagle, very cute. The lady was very thankful, giving Oakley a hug for bringing her dog back. We took Oakley back inside and praised him with the attention that he craves, good job.
