Oba Of Benin Tasks Leaders On Corruption Oba of Benin tasks leaders on corruption The Oba of Benin Omo N’ Oba Erediauwa has called on Nigerian leaders to address the issues of poverty and corruption in the country. The Oba spoke to newsmen in Benin yesterday through his younger brother, Gregory Iduorobo Akenzua, who is the Enogie of Evbuobanosa/ Abudu, at a press conference on the public presentation of the book on him. The book is a compendium of speeches and writings of the Oba of Benin. “The Oba’s reign coincides with the period when Nigeria is faced with a myriad of developmental challenges, not the least of which, is the social malaise that followed period of political instability and a long period of military dictatorship. The issues which till date pose formidable threats to the survival of our democracy include corruption in high places, moral decadence , widespread poverty, insecurity and poor leadership,” he said. He said in the book, the Oba attempts to demonstrate how the constitution of knowledge emerges as ideas in separate spheres of intellectual activities and influences through the construction and definition of meanings. Among the dignitaries expected to attend the public presentation of the book which comes up next week include President Goodluck Jonatahn, former Head of State General Yakubu Gowon, Senate President David Mark, Speaker House of Representatives Aminu Tambuwal, former Defence Minister General Theophilus Danjuma, Alhaji Aliko Dangote among others The book which was written by Dr Osarhieme Benson Osadolor of the University of Benin will be presented by Professor Wole Soyinka. make sure u like this page please
