Occupy New Brunswick via Greg Cook Sj Let’s clear the air, okay. And this is especially for the RCMP, and any other security reading us. I have no idea what perceived threats security was ready for, although I am familiar (as many are) with demonstrations, stand offs, picket lines and blockades. In the role I was asked to take on, I hear from a lot of people as we all do. It fills me with all of the emotions others feel. I am very passionate about the state of democracy we live in. That was bred in me at an early age, because my father was killed as a soldier in Europe in 1944 so I could live “free in a democracy.” Two events today give me pause. And ask me to channel what others have witnessed and spoken of during the past few days. We have seen passive resistance in the form of ceremony and blockade. Women were targeted in early arrests. Today it was children. First a school bus load of children was stopped by the RCMP. Then the bravado of men in big trucks exhibited authority threats over an adolescent. The RCMP might be wise to check their role model before we have to classify the people protecting us along with the bullies our government has made of itself, presumably because it has been bullied by corporations. We don’t like bullying in our schools, on our roadways, in business, in government and NOT in police. We are watching the role models in this journey we are on together. So are the children. Their power grows greater than ours every time they are intimidated by strangers. And any time they see their brothers and sisters, their mothers, their fathers and all their relations and neighbors being targeted or intimidated their power grows greater than ours. I know. It’s a tough job. So would be living in a fascist state.
