October 2, 2013 PORTLAND INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT TEMPORARY RUNWAY CLOSURE – NORTH RUNWAY Maintenance activities will require a temporary closure of the north runway for up to 48 hours beginning at approximately 8:00 AM on Thursday, October 3. During this closure, jet aircraft will use the south parallel runway primarily, following noise abatement procedures that direct them over the Columbia River, minimizing over-flights of residential areas. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) air traffic controllers may need to use the “crosswind” runway, which is oriented north/south, for cargo feeders and commuter aircraft. The Port will work with the FAA to minimize use of the crosswind runway. Thank you for your patience during these temporary conditions.
