October 5, 2014 6:44pm Good evening. The weather this weekend has been nothing short of glorious. I got out and enjoyed it yesterday, playing golf with my buddies for the first time since May. I almost felt normal, but the open-toe “franken-boot” was a constant reminder that I am not the man I used to be. While the physical pain is manageable, it’s the psychological aspect that can be daunting. A look at all the medications, bandages, and supplies needed to deal with my foot and diabetes makes me feel older than my birthday indicates. My daughters, unintentionally, provided a push in a more positive direction. They went to the supermarket with me, as Mimi has an assignment that requires some cooking. She’s making two dishes that people in Guatemala eat. We got the stuff and though we didn’t talk about things of great consequence, the conversations reminded me of how blessed I am that they are in my life. I am not alone and have all the motivation I need to go forward right here with me: My beautiful girls. So I post this, not lamenting my health challenges, but celebrating the blessing God’s given me. I am their father and they love me as I love them. Nothing else matters at this moment on this Sunday evening. ()
