Odd socks day…because anyone can have an odd day, is a light-hearted approach to reminding people that anyone, at any time, can have an odd day. It is a national campaign to help address stigma associated with mental illness. Stigma can have a devastating impact on the lives of people with mental illness and their families, friends and carers. It influences how they are viewed and how they see themselves. Stigma can happen anywhere – at home, school, work, hospitals, sporting clubs. If we are to work towards a society where every person is valued, respected, and belongs, we must address stigma. On Friday 3 October, pull on your odd socks and help stomp out stigma • Wear them loud and proud – encourage everyone to wear odd socks • Use spare odd socks to decorate your place of work, school • See who can come up with the oddest sock idea – sock scarves, sock puppets, sock gloves, sock legwarmers To be in the running for A PRIZE send a photo of your Odd Sock experience to the CRC by 10 October 2014 (email [email protected]) or post it to our Nannup CRC facebook page.
