Office gutted, BSP names candidates.... JAMMU, Jun 13 (KNN): A major fire broke out in the office of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in Narwal Pain, Satwari ahead of party’s State level convention today, gutting all the records and furniture. “After getting information about the fire incident in the office of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) at Narwal Pain, police party from Satwari police station rushed to the spot and the Fire and Emergency Department was informed”, Probationer DySP Shabir Khan said. The fire tenders and fire fighters also rushed to the spot and after hectic efforts brought the fire under control, but by that time, records kept in the party’s president office vis-à-vis furniture, fax machine, etc were damaged, he added. “No casualty in the incident has been reported, while the exact lost could not be ascertained”, he added. A case has been registered under FIR No. 93/13 at Satwari Police Station and investigations started, he said, adding that the fire might have erupted due to short circuit, but other reasons could be ruled out only after completion of investigation. When asked about any conspiracy behind the incident, Khan said that they were working on different theories and “if we find something fishy we will investigate that.” When contacted In-charge Fire Services Office, Gangyal, Manzoor Hussain Malik said that they received a call about the fire in the BSP Office at Narwal Pain, Satwari at around 6 am in the morning and rushed to the spot. It was a major fire and the records kept in the party’s President Office vis-à-vis furniture including tables, fax machine, chairs and computers were damaged. After hectic efforts, the fire fighters brought the fire under control and also controlled it from spreading to other adjoining areas, he added. Tulsi Dass Langeh, State president, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) alleged that it was not an accidental fire and the office was burnt under a conspiracy as today the party had to hold State level conference. He claimed somebody knew that all records were kept in the office and the fire was part of a conspiracy. It seems to be a deliberate attempt and somebody knew that we were maintaining all the records at this office, he added. “We have lodged a formal complaint about the incident and believe it is a conspiracy to destroy the records”, Langeh said. Meanwhile, as per its old strategy, the BSP today announced its candidates to contest 2014 Assembly elections the State. Making announcement at one day workers conference held at Gangyal today, party’s national general secretary Narender Kashyap (MP) said that Party has decided to contest elections from all the 37 seats in Jammu region This time the party will not field any candidate from Kashmir or Ladakh. He declared that Party National president Mayawati has approved the first list of 12 candidates to elections in J&K next year. The exercise on the remaining seats in Jammu region is going on and the lists will be declared in near future. The party has also tried to revive the candidates and give chance to old, loyal and committed party leaders/ activists. Announcing the names of first list, Mr Kashyap disclosed that Party has given the mandate to contest elections from Kathua to the old loyalist S R Majotra, from Samba Ex-MLA Som Nath, Vijaypur –Jagdish Raj Verma, Hiranagar-Sarpanch Puran Singh, Bishnah- Sarpanch Bharat Bhushan, Gandhinagar (Jammu) S Ravinder Singh, Jammu East – Ayodhya Kumar Manawa, Jammu West –Ch Bansi Lal, from Nagrota – Rakesh Wazir, Akhnoor- Sarpanch Raj Kumar Bhagat, Udhampur- S. Ranjit Singh and Chenani- Mohinder Singh. He further declared that the names for the two Lok Sabha seats from Jammu region will also be finalized shortly by the party high command. State Coordinator of the Party from Punjab and State president of the party Tulsi Dass Langeh were also present besides senior leaders of the party from all the districts.
