Bidding ends at 12 noon EST, US on November 1, 2014. This daisho is the brainchild of my good friend and Buyu, Brian Muircheartaigh and myself. It was built to be auctioned off for the benefit of elderheart.org, who bring awareness to the silent war so many veterans face in PTSD/TBI and veteran suicide. 22 veterans per day take their own lives. Please help us raise awareness through art and get ready to bid on this beautiful daisho. We will reveal the particulars in coming days. This daisho is built from a premium quality bokken set, with one of a kind, hand dyed multicam tsuka-ito (handle wrap), gold phoenix menuki symbolizing the rebirth of these warriors, and real black rayskin (samegawa) handles, as well as friction fit tsuba. The daito is 44 3/4 inches overall, with a blade length of 31 5/8 inches and the handle length is 13 inches. The shoto is 25 inches overall, with a blade length of 16 7/8 inches and a handle length of 8 inches. The tsuka-kashira has the number 22 burned into the wood to remind us of the 22 veteran suicides per day. Elder Heart is burned into the ura side of each blade and the kanji for Bushi or warrior is burned into the omote side of each blade.
