Oh, I just had a Duh moment. I keep getting rashes, and Ive been blaming the goats because they go through the woods and brush up against all kind of weeds and stuff. I dont think it is poison ivy, because I never develop blisters, so I am not sure what it is. I realized, today, as I was going through raw mohair from Corabelle, that I could easily be getting these rashes from the raw mohair, not just when Im handling the goats. I may have to change my ways. Typically, I go through the mohair fleeces and separate the lovely long locks out before washing - I can sell the washed locks for more. But I realize Im touching whatever it is that is likely causing these rashes when Im doing that. I probably should start skirting more heavily when Im shearing and then wash it all immediately and then pull the best locks out of it. Either that, or take a shower with farmers soap three or four times a day!
