Ok busy day and then crazy commute. I got all the way to the parking lot in Quincy and realized I forgot my wallet. Bummed out and headed home. Then I think Ayrton Senna helped me from heaven! It only took 15 minutes to get back and the car was dancing with superb grip. Grabbed wallet and took off again. Traffic was a little slower but I got there by 7:45. So I walked in on San da late but sifu was happy to see me. So we continued with kicks drills and im doing well with single steps and even started some hand slap coordination with opposite foot. It simulates the strike impact. Then we did punch and stride drills, punch kick drills forwards and backwards. Then to the punching pads. I paired up with one of the older yellow belts and about my weight if not heavier. So more punch drillss across the room. Then punch kick drills, them double punch roundhouse kick drills. Then 5 time roundhouse drills. Yes I bopped myself in the face getting used to the impact when I was holding the pads but it was great and we did really well. The little guys were tired and sifu had to ride them more than usual. One of the other yellow belts complimented me of my kicks. Nice. My hips are sore but my foot feels great and im getting stronger. Then it was just me and an older yellow belt and I was invited to stay for Chi Kung. Wow! Sifu showed me how to start the breath and it explained a lot of the trouble ive noticed since starting my voice lessons in grad school. You should not bellybreathe but rather maintain rib separation and pull in toward the spine and then fill up to the top of the ribcage and into the back. So many excercises with different kung fu stances and hand fist movment. Really cool. You would recognise it from the movies too. Maybe I will do this after rehearsal during the year?
