Ok folks, theres several things of interest we need to discuss with you. Well make this as brief as possible. Please view the attached graphics for details for your specific location. Thanks! 1) Strong to severe storms will be possible across southwest Central Alabama Saturday afternoon and evening as a squall line (ahead of a cold front) moves east across the area. The severe threat timing will be 2pm-10pm Saturday. The main threat will be damaging winds, but an isolated tornado will also be possible. 2) An additional 1-2 inches of rain is possible from tonight through Sunday. With the heavy rain that fell in late December, flash flood guidance values have decreased and some rivers are still elevated. These lingering effects combined with the additional rainfall expected could lead to some localized flash flooding. The main concern will be along/north of a line from Demopolis to Anniston. Minor river flooding will also be possible, primarily in the west. 3) Looking ahead into the middle of next week...a significant freeze looks likely for all of Central Alabama. Highs on Wednesday and Thursday may only be in the 30s/40s with lows Wednesday night dropping into the teens and 20s. Please stay weather-aware on Saturday! Also, it would be a good idea to prepare for the upcoming bitter cold as soon as the rain ends (which should be late Sunday).
