Okay. Now that Im at a computer, I can actually explain why Im so crazy excited. Flatmates, a short musical I wrote for the Short+Sweet Auckland festival, did amazingly at the awards evening! Heres what we scooped: Judges Choice - Flatmates Wallace Arts Trust Emerging Artist Award (Song) - The Cast of Flatmates Best Musical Director - Zac Johns (Flatmates) Best Composer - Rose Duxfield & Zac Johns (Flatmates) A gazillion billion thanks to the dream team of Katie Flood and Zac Johns. They are the ones that made this show a huge success and I am incredibly, incredibly thankful for their time, effort and expertise. And I couldnt have asked for better actresses than Anna Haydon, Lexi Clare and Megan OReilly - you were all absolutely delightful. Auckland is full of amazingly talented people and I have no doubt Ill be eagerly watching all 5 of this amazing bunch do awesome things. Cordelia, thank you so much for your transcription help and for coming up to Auckland to support me and the show. Robbie, thanks for encouraging me to write something for this. Phil, Amber and Cairan, thanks for coming to support me. Declan, thanks for encouraging me to do all the things that are creative and crazy. On a personal note - most of you who know me know Ive had some health issues on and off over the last few years. Ive taken a big sabbatical from being involved in music and theatre because of health issues over the last little while which has been so frustrating since theres so much I want to. The success of this show has left me buzzing with ideas, inspiration and encouragement and has reminded me of why I love it so much - expect more stuff from me!
