Okay...big deal...Bipartisan compromise on a VA Reform Package. We KNEW the politician would throw more money at the issue and the VA Administrators would gladly accept it while petitioning for more. Great, Veterans can now see providers outside the VA if they live more than (40) forty miles away and if treatment hasnt been provided within (30) thirty days. THAT WAS ALREADY THE CASE....its called a Fee-Pay Basis and ensures Veterans are able to garner outside treatment but has to be pre-approved by the very Administration that has already not provided that which is needed. And, if deemed necessity or emergent treatment, that which is received is reimbursed by the VA ONLY on and in compliance with strict and virtually unobtainable stipulations. And now, the Secretary of the VA can terminate employment of Administrators that are corrupt or fail to perform..awesome accountability. What about the Phlebotomist that assaults a Veteran Patient? A low-level Administrator that threatens the Veteran Patient and maliciously interferes with care? Will these offenses and/or offenders rise to the level of being recognized and further rectified by the Secretary? Do you actually think any of this will take place? NO! Its NOT money that is needed in the reformation of the VA...it is COMPLETE CULTURE CHANGE! The very individuals that are obligated by oath or position to provide the Veteran with the respectful care, compassionate understanding, and dignified treatment earned...a complete reeducation and cleaning house is needed. More money just means corruption. Fixing the VA DOES NOT mean giving it more money!
