Okay, jumping off the positive posts bandwagon for one post, just in case there is anyone out there, especially among the Lone Star College students and teachers, who has experience with Pearson and can relate. Im pretty convinced that Pearson publishers is a scam. Okay, so that may be a little harsh but I am not pleased with Pearson and Im not pleased with Lone Stars affiliation with them. Im caught between a rock and a hard place. If I want to pass my Portfolio Development class, I have to purchase access to Pearsons online program attached to this class. Our instructor did not post textbook information. In fact, Lone Star showed that there were no required textbooks for this course. Then, our instructor informed us that we would need access to Pearsons website, which another class I was in had major extremely annoying issues with, and we could get a text if we wanted to. This website subscription is very expensive, considering you only have access to it for one semester, so I wanted the book. Then, Id at least have something of some value after the semester ends. After learning that the campus would be closed Monday, I purchased my book from Amazon so I could have everything set up by the next class. Well, I paid $65 for a flimsy little book with no access code. If Pearson has no intention of supplying access to their website in books supplied by Amazon, they should not sell their books through Amazon!!!!!!!!! This is my last semester at Lone Star, unless I choose to continue after Ive received my Web Design certification. Lone Stars affiliation with Pearson is enough to make me consider pursuing any other certifications or degrees through another college.
