Okay so I was nominated by my boo thang Clarisse Soh to do the Book Bucket Challenge! My apologies for this lengthy post on your news feed but I love books and thought it give this a go! I learnt a lot from other Book Bucket Challenge’s other people did and hope you guys learn something new bout me! Xoxo :* I nominate; Jamie Koh , Ashwini Maheandran and Jane Kwek DISCLAIMER- *CHRISTIAN AND PROUD!!* 1.The Bible (totally did that!) - It’s the best book ever written. I’m alive because I know a Guy who well and truly has my back! THY WORD IS A LAMP UNTO MY FEET! 2.Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury- Okay so I know loads of people read this in high school, but well, I didnt. I read it after I watched the movie cause, well, I was intrigued. This book has been analyzyed in so many different ways by some many people I dunno what I can say that’s diff. It was quite profound and prophetic. It’s a book about burning books. Ironic? But the message behind is so much deeper and I feel was applicable to society back then as it is now. It’s prophetic in the way that it tells of social change, our withdrawal from one another in favor of other things, which measure less in moral value. I don’t think I’m making much sense so just read the darn book yourself! 3.Shopaholic Takes Manhattan by Sophie Kinsella- She is my favourite author so basically ALL her books are my fav! If I had to choose one book from the ‘Shopaholic’ series, it would be this one. I’ve re-read all of them about a billion times but this one, prob about a billion and one times (I read it today!). Becky connects with the girly chick in me and I just find that she and I SOMETIMES have similar thought patterns. Sometimes la. 4.Across the Nightingale Floor Tales of the Otori) By Lian Hearn- so I read this book in my early teens. It was one of the books you order from scholastic’s book club as part of the school’s reading programme or something. My brother chose it for me to break up the “chick lit” trend in my basket. I read the first few chapters and quit. I kinda took it for granted. Until I lent it to my cousin. She saw it through a set of eyes that inspired me to give it another go. She told me, before she passed on, that it was her favorite book. It became one of mine too. 5.God Loves You by Dr. David Jeremiah- I really like this book because it uses real life scenarios, pure and inspiring cases to highlight things we don’t see or rather things we see but don’t appreciate enough. It breaks down messages from the bible in ways I can easily relate to. Day to day life sometimes has a way of getting me down and feeling like..turdpie. This book is such a good reminder that there is a greater love that that is free for me, YOU and all others who receive! I recommend it to everyone. 6.Lola Rose by Jacqueline Wilson- Now this chick was (IS) the bomb. I LOOVE JACKIE with all my tweenage heart! My fav tween/teen author HANDS DOWN! I collect all her books so that one day, if I ever know a little girl, I could share them with her. Lola Rose was kinda a depressing story. Her dad was abusive (Mine is not. He’s lovely) and her mom gets cancer (Spoiler alert) and they get rich then get broke and…well..its a messy situation. As a kid living a pretty blessed life I learned soo much about serious and real life situations (with added dramatics!)that real people go through. This book made me appreciate my life loads! My family life was (is still) good and stable and I soon realized the magnitude of this blessing! 7.“Suitcase Kid” and “The Illustrated Mum” by Jaqueline Wilson- Again, she taught me so much about serious life issues when I was a tween! 8.Can You Keep a Secret? By Sophie Kinsella- I SAID I was a fan! 9.Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister – Aside from my mom and dad, Sunday school and kindergarten teachers, this fish taught me how to SHARE! I mean, he had to learn how to first, but he got there! 10.Shopaholic to the Stars by Sophie Kinsella- did I mention she is my fav? Haha! So okay, technically this book isn’t even out yet but I don’t care! This is not her first rodeo! I trust you Soph!
