Okay, spiritual recharging for 12 bucks at the cineplex: You might wonder if Exodus by Ridley Scott was intended to say something the way Noah did earlier this year. Well, Id say Mr. Scott isnt as agnostic, but more of an opportunist. Lots of CGI and muscular men yelling at each other and trying to be epic. I think the one done in the 1950s was better, this one just has more special effects, and to service those, the dialog is choppy. The editing is odd--youre expecting adherence to the Bible and getting an overview, because, at 2.5 hours, it could have been done like Peter Jackson did The Hobbit--split it into two films. Even though we know the background, its nice to see it depicted in the film anyway. The best was last of course, the parting of the sea... Did I come away spiritually recharged? Well, of course, because the subject was meaningful and not overly distorted. Ridleys had Christian imagery dealt with philosophically in other movies, so it was interesting to see him take on a real story.
