Okay, upfront I do not know what the solution is. Im just venting and as you all may remember, The Community Pet Project has also found ourselves in the predicament of Owner surrender situations (i.e. Sunshine n/k/a Essie and Tiger n/k/a Jack). In both situations, the community picked up the bill for medical expenses when the dogs were handed over. And, of course, no legal remedies were sought from the Owners to cover those costs or hold them accountable for their obvious neglect. So, do we (the public) continue to rush in to pick up the pieces and eat the cost for others failures at responsible pet ownership or do we rescue these animals and follow up to see that charges are imposed to deter future poor ownership? Or, maybe you have another solution. If so, please share it. Thanks.
