Okay, yesterday wasnt a great day having Buddy put to sleep. He is no longr suffering. Today was a much better day for Willy, though. Willy is a 9yr old Beagle/Shepherd mix that was surrendered to ARLGP. After we returned the special food and meds that were for Buddy, we were talking about taking some time before we would take in another elder. Just from the way the conversation was going, I knew something was up. When I asked what she was leading to, she said that they had a dog who got very stressed out when put in the kennel. We went out to the play yard and Willy, and knew that we might be able to help, depending on Lucas (adopted in September) who is a 13 yr old Black Lab. Lucas had some guard issues and occasionally lets the cats know hes still around. Hasnt attacked, but bares his teeth and barks. We went for a meet and greet this afternoon and both dogs got along okay. Theyve been out walking several times together this afternoon, have had supper (gated off) from each other, and have had play time.Hes relaxed and enjoying having a new home. Only a couple small incidents but have been able to handle things. Willy loves to lay on his back and get belly rubs, playing with fuzzy toys and rope pulls. Its now 800 oclock, and both dogs are sawing logs. Willy fills a void left by Buddy, hes in foster care right now by appointment, at least for the time being, well see.
