Okey Dokey Update Time: This weekend I went up to Nordic - TopicsExpress

Okey Dokey Update Time: This weekend I went up to Nordic Valley to build some trails and race on them at the 2nd USA Cycling MTB event put on by WeBe Cycling. While I was driving up on Thursday night I screamed like a little girl as I passed all of the team vans coming down from the Tour of Utah. Once I got there we rode the course a few times and then Matthew Tyler Turner and I clocked a new section of the trail (you cant know yet, its a secret) that will be used for a race next year (which is also a secret). On Friday we woke up bright and early with the sun and got to work right away. Together we built probably 500 feet of trail (correct me if Im wrong, thats about what it seemed like) for the Cat 2/3 Course. I ate about a pound and a half of salad plus a few bowls of soup for dinner. 45 minutes later we all inhaled another 2 servings of spaghetti and garlic bread. The morning of the race I woke up and went down to help set up a little bit. We greeted everyone then got ready for the race. The race was interesting...I registered for the USAC Pro Category (not totally on purpose I suppose). That was fun, 5 laps on an amazing course was something I usually would have been stoked about. OVERTRAINING = BURNOUT. I finished 3 laps on the course and had to pull out. After everyone finished the race I left and came home to eat a few thousand calories and then hibernate. Switching sports for a second! Yesterday I had an amazing opportunity to go hang out with Sam and Raquel from the YogaSlackers. Learned a bunch of new tricks with Jake Williams, Stephanie Leeann, and Jai Krishna Das. I came THIS CLOSE to walking the line they had set up, damn near 170 feet is my guess. Thats my life. Busy as hell, having TONS of fun. Cant wait to get back up and do it again!
