Okie dokie Ginger Watson Summerlin!! Here it goes....the 6 things that people may not know about me. #1--My grandparents gave me the nickname of Queenie and I still refer to myself as such!! #2--My first job....during my early high school summers, I lived with my grandparents on the bayou so that I could work next to my grandmother in the shrimp factory, packing boiled shrimp & picking out the trash from the catches of fresh shrimp. Ah! the good days. Nothing like having fried shrimp po-boys every Friday!! #3---I played hymns in church as my Filipino grandfather sang in his broken English accent. And....I cried the whole time from terror & the emotions of hearing him sing. I still tear up these days when I hear those hymns. #4-While spending the summers with my grandparents on the bayou, my grandmother & I cleaned the church every Saturday. I was in charge of polishing the piano, emptying the trash in the classrooms & dusting the pews & tables in Barataria Baptist church in Lafitte, LA. #5--My Senior year in high school, I competed in the Miss Phillippines Scholarship contest that was sponsored by the Philippine/American Society of New Orleans. I actually got runner-up, Miss Luzon!!! I was the only girl not full Filipino and without straight black hair. How I won is still a mystery! #6--My toddler years were spent standing next to my Uncle Ikey as he drove me around the streets of New Orleans to get me to go to sleep. May I also say, my first word was one he taught me. And not a good one to come out of such a cute little dark baby!!! If you need more, I may be able to come up with other little Hope facts!!! Night night world!!! Missing my Grandma Girlie, Grandpa Cat, & my Uncle Ikey!!!
