On December 26 2004 I awoke to the news that. while I slept in, thousands had lost their lives in what turned out to be quite possibly, the worst natural disaster in recorded history. In the final count, nearly 1/4 of a million people lost their lives in a span of hours, while innumerable other lives were torn apart forever. I think this video captures the simple horror of an implacable and unstoppable wave not just hitting the shore, but sweeping far inland to city and country, carrying everything before it. Acheh Province, Indonesia alone suffered more than 94.000 casualties. In this holiday, lets pause just a moment to remember those who died, every one a human being with hopes and plans just like ourselves.
