On Ejigbo Model High School Collapse: When the news of the sudden collapse of the yet to be commissioned Ejigbo Model High School first hit the waves, the APC which is the party of the incumbent bombarded the various media with series of unfounded lies alleging that the school was bombed. But a week after the ugly incident, there is yet a police report to corroborate their falsehood. The intent of the APC as to the collapse is to place the blame of the failure of their administration on PDP which is seen as a strong opposition to its re-election bid of the incumbent Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola. Also, the falsehood was also a strategy at that time in their view hoped to seek undue sympathy of the public which later shoot them in the leg. Now, a week after the unfortunate incident, nothing is been said as at the circumstances that surrounds the collapsed building. Clinical look into the situation shows that the governor Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola who also happens to be the Commissioner for Works while his deputy also holds the Education portfolio are actually to share the larger blames. It was discovered that the contractor who is working on the project was never selected through the traditionally bidding process which is a contradiction of the due process expected of government projects. The contractor was reported to have little or even no experience on project of that magnitude, but was handpicked by the governor. Though, we are happy the unfortunate event of the collapse does not claim any life, but we must ask questions on the reasons why due process was evaded in order to avert future occurrence. We must all irrespective of our political affiliations not shy away from our responsibility to contribute to the strengthen of our democracy by stunning partisan politics and speaking the truths when need be. Reports on the evaluation of the cause of the collapse must be made public, and government should stop playing politics with the life of the people. In conclusion, the recent event and the cover up that trails it further confirm the failure of this present administration. A government must be candid to his people and not lying to them on every issue which Ejigbo school collapse is an example. When part of the National Stadium, Abuja collapsed some years back, the PDP led federal government took responsibility and didnt blame anyone for its misdeed, we expect same from our government as well. A good government takes responsibility for all its action, good or bad, Aregbesola must also start trending on this honourable part if he really wants our trust. God bless Osun state.
